Meet Kate!!

She is a Black Lab/Irish Setter mix...but mainly just Black Lab! She will be 5 months on the 26th. She is already spaded and has all of her shots. She is also already house broken and kennel trained. She doesn't have accidents in the house and doesn't wine at night. Too good to be true your thinking...us too! Keep reading. She was in the Wilson County Dog Pound when a man and his wife found her. The man had grown up with labs his whole life and loved them! So, they adopted her and named her Katy. The only problem was Paco. Paco is a chihuahua and doesn't like any other dogs! Paco hates Katy and barks and growls every time Katy goes near him, even though she doesn't do anything to him. They have had Paco for 7 years already. So, this husband and wife decided that they needed to find a new home for Katy. They posted it on Craig's List yesterday (the 17th). We just so happened to look on Craig's List yesterday, just for the fun of it...to get some ideas. We called, they loved us. Still to good to be true? I know! Keep going...We went to their house today to visit with them and Katy and fell in love. They gave her to us and all of her stuff! :) They are a Christian family and all they want is a good home for Katy. The only stipulation for giving her away for free was that if it doesn't work out, we HAVE to return her to them and let them find her a good home. We are not to sell her or give her to a shelter. They said that a young, Christian couple was perfect for her. (Even though we won't actually all live in a house together for 8 whole months!) We offered to keep them update on Katy and they were very appreciative. Its blowing me away! It gets better...
We're not super fond of the name, Katy, for her. But she is 4 months old, already getting used to Katy, and we don't have any girl dog names in mind. So, we shortened it to Kate and I love it! Plus, it fits her so much better!
Kate is amazing! She is so good! She comes when we call her, pretty much most of the time. She doesn't fully understand what her name is used for yet and that when we call her by her name, we mean for her to come. But, when we made noises that are too hard to describe in words (even though you can probably do them right now because its dog generic) she comes. She doesn't jump on people. For almost 5 months old, she pretty tame. She is a puppy mind you, so she does have energy and is very curious about the world around her. We also took her outside with no leash, and she stays right with us. If she gets too far, we make a noise, she comes right back! She sits on command...I could go on and on, but you get the point. She amazing!!!
We've already started working with her on training and she's picked it up rather well. Just tonight, our first night with her, we've almost taught her to stay! She stays for like 30 seconds or so.
We love her so much already and couldn't be happier with our decision. It just fell into place too easily. Is is silly to think that God placed this dog in our lives? Because I really think He did! Its not too good to be true, its just God fulfilling this dream that Matthew and I had earlier than we thought and with a far better dog than we could have ever imagined! I can't wait for everyone to meet her!
-Funny thing will be when she has decided to chew up my clothes or peed in our new house, or something crazy and I'll complain on here about her. Just revert me back to my own blog! Well...who are we kidding...she's so great! :) LoL!
